Good morning, friends! I hope your weekends are going well so far.

Highlights so far for me have included a 7 mile trail run with my friend Tim (my first run since the half marathon last weekend — feeling good)! Trail running is awesome but makes me so much more tired than road running! We were on a really rocky/root covered/hilly at parts trail and I was pooped afterward!

Plus a delicious post-run brunch with Matt! We were both starving and whipped up a feast. Blueberry and banana pancakes (recipe instructions are in this post):

Plus this amazing veggie egg scramble that Matt made — he simply sautéed together fresh mushrooms, green pepper, and chopped spinach in a pan with some cooking spray, then added the eggs and a little skim milk, and, lastly, a chopped laughing cow cheese (for creaminess!) and some diced tomato. Topped with salt/pepper to taste. SO good!

Matt had a soccer game yesterday afternoon so I went along to watch/cheer/study flashcards for my Biochem test Monday! Eeeek.

Blog Updates

I spent this morning getting my blog all updated! By popular demand, I finally found a good print-friendly button to install! You will now see this at the bottom of all my pages/posts:

print_friendly

I’ll use my Almond Butter Banana Bars recipe page as an example to show how it works. The Print Friendly button is at the bottom of the page, and when you click on it, it will open a new window with just the post/recipe page text, not all the stuff on my sidebar/header/etc. It will also include the title of the post and the URL, for later reference! It will first come up with the photos included:

photo_print

But there’s also a little button on the top right (“no images”) you can click that will take out the photos, if you want to save ink 🙂

print_me

Then you just click print in the top left (or PDF, or email!), and you are good to go! 🙂 I hope you guys find this new feature helpful.

——

Speaking of recipes, I got my recipe page all up to date with the past few recipes I’ve posted but hadn’t yet created special pages for!

New Recipe Pages:

  • Whole Wheat Carrot Cake Muffins (vegan)

074

  • “Cheesy” Coconut Sautéed Chickpeas and Kale (vegan)

033

  • Healthy Diner-Style Chicken Fingers (!)

009

  • Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Banana Bread

046

  • Matt’s Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies (healthy but not TOO healthy!)

034

I’m hungry just looking at those pictures!

Question: Do you guys prefer the links on my recipe page go to a new page with only the recipe and one or two photos, like they currently do? Or is it okay if I just have the recipe name link to my original blog post? Feedback, please! 🙂

Time for lunch and then Matt and I are heading out for a bike ride shortly with friends — it’s gorgeous out here! Have a great Sunday!

Oooh, I'm lovin' the printer-friendly recipes! And those pancakes and cookies and everything else looks so tasty... I like how the recipe page is now, although I bet that's a lot of additional work! I wouldn't mind having to go to the original post of the recipe, especially now with the print-friendly option. Cheers!

Oooh Anne, that breakfast is awesome. I only had time to make oatmeal this morning because I had to get everyone ready for church. I only make pancakes and those delicious eggs for me and my husband after all the grand kids leave for school. I think I will fix the chicken fingers for supper. Enjoy the rest of your day.

I think just linking to the original post is fine! Looks like you're having a really good weekend! Anddd, I can't wait to make your diner-style tenders - I've had them bookmarked since you posted them!

I love trail running- isn't it fun? :) Variable terrain keeps it interesting! I like the excitement of having to think of placing every step (or risk eating it!) I miss it a lot, very jealous!

When I print recipes, I just want it to fit on one page so I don't have to file away multiple pages per recipe. I like either one picture plus recipe, or just recipe. But with the "no image" button, that solves it too.

Anne, I love your print friendly button. I just printed two of the recipes. I have a fannetastic food three ring notebook with all of your recipes in it. I copied your banner and printed it for the cover of my book. I hope I didn't break any copyright laws. It is for my kitchen only.

As long as on a site, I have the option to look for a recipe based off categories like "Breakfast" or "Salads" is what I care about most. Honestly I don't print out many recipes. I bring my laptop with me on the kitchen table and read off of it when making recipes.

I love BioChem, it was one of my favorite subjects!!!!! (but not everyone likes that course?) But, if you need any help, I can help... (ahem, the "nerd" that I am, use to tutor BioChem) So glad you had a nice "trail run" this weekend, and I love your "printer ready" Blog! Good luck in your exam, I know you'll do great!!!

The current link system is good, I think. Great that the menus will be printable. And sounds like a terrific trail run. Well done -- and those pancakes look great! Enjoy BioChem!

Good luck on your Biochem test Monday! I actually have one next week on Wednesday too.. Biochem is definitely a tough one. Any studying suggestions? I'm trying to come up with a new way to cram everything into my head! Also... those pancakes looked delicious!

I want to walk into that photo of your trail run and just keep on going. Re: the recipe page - I like going to the blog post best but I wouldn't be upset over going to a page with only the recipe. I do like having photos with the recipes though.

I'm making your "cheesy" kale and chickpeas right now and it smells amazing! I'm substituting almond milk for oil because I'm doing a 28-Day Health Eating Challenge through Whole Foods and oil isn't a 'challenge-friendly' food. So far, it seems to be working fine! Thanks for the recipe :)

I'm curious I have the "print friendly" button as well but it will print out my entire page which isn't what most people want. Are you able to zoom in on just your recipe? View my blog and you'll see what I mean when you click on the button. I look forward to your reply.

Hey Vicki, I checked out your site but the print friendly button seems to be the same as mine - it's the entire page. I just figure it people want to only print my recipe, they print it from my recipe page vs. the original post with more text/commentary.
