Hello and happy New Years Eve! Time flies – I can’t believe it’s the last day of 2015. I love the holiday week because so many friends are home visiting – like my buddy Ashley! She lives on the west coast now – boo. But glad she is back this week. 🙂 Per our usual preferred form of hanging out, we met up for a run yesterday!

We used to run on the C&O Canal together all the time back in the day, so we decided to hit it up for old time’s sake. Yep, still rocking a tank top in December. No complaints!

The rain held off and it was a nice day for a run, although there were lots of muddy puddles on the trail for us to dodge!

We did a simple 2 miles out and 2 miles back. 4 miles, done! Good pace, too, especially given the puddle dodging situation. 🙂

Our next order of business was lunch! We took our sweaty selves to Cassatt’s Kiwi Cafe, one of our local faves. It felt so much like a weekend I was surprised they didn’t have their brunch menu – ha! Good opportunity to mix it up and try something new. 🙂 I had the salmon cake, which came with a slaw salad of sorts. Delish! Plus an unpictured flat white (basically a whole milk latte but a little more foamy/creamy). I noticed Starbucks has flat whites now, too… have any of you tried it? Is it good?

The rest of the day was spent running errands, one of which was to upgrade myself to a new phone since mine was getting old and didn’t take great photos. I decided it was finally time to make the switch from android to iPhone – woohoo! Any recommendations for iPhone apps to download that weren’t available on android?

I hope you all have a fun night of New Years celebrating ahead! We’re headed to a friend’s place to ring in the new year – should be a good time. I’m also planning one last run this afternoon to close out the year – anyone else? And for my last 2015 breakfast, my Flour Free Breakfast Pancake happened, of course. I hadn’t had it in awhile – yum.

See you next year! 🙂

I don't think the Starbucks flat whites are very good... They tried, but just didn't get it. Similar to their macchiatos, they just kind of missed. I've been running in Rhode Island and it has been AWESOME. So much water and puddle dodging hahaha

I tried a flat white at Starbucks but had it made with coconut milk...so, I'm not sure if it was technically a flat white. However, it was delicious! I've been meaning to try the holiday flat white. Happy New Year!!

We've had awesome temps here, too! Until last weekend anyway. Then it snowed and has been cold ever since.

Hi Anne, I can't believe how warm the weather on the east coast has been so far! It is completely mind-boggling. I've seen the flat whites advertised at Starbucks, but I'm afraid to try it. What exactly is it? Just espresso and milk?

It's essentially a whole milk latte with a little more foam than normal. :) It's good!

I'm so jealous your getting a new phone! Last year I switched from the iPhone to a Samsung and it was the biggest mistake ever. The phone is a pos and the camera is terrible. We're thinking of paying the penalty to upgrade my phone sooner because the phone is so bad. I hate it.

I actually really liked my Samsung, but it was time to be able to get access to better apps for blogging purposes - and I had an old phone so the camera wasn't good (the newer phone cameras are better). I wasn't due for an upgrade yet but convinced them to give me kind of a deal ish/do a payment plan in the store - maybe you'll have success with that too! Good luck!
