Hey guys! I got back to DC last night after my travels in the beautiful Pacific Northwest! In case you missed it, here are the recaps: adventures in the other Washington + hiking Mt. St. Helens (<—intense but so cool).

After saying goodbye to Matt on Monday morning, the rest of my time out west was spent on a press trip with fellow dietitians at the gorgeous Cascadian Farm in Skagit Valley, WA! These are organic blueberries – aren’t they stunning with their fall leaves?

Loved meeting their team and learning more about the brand and its beautiful surroundings. I discovered a new-to-me fruit (see my Instagram post on it!)…

…And we even carved some of their organic pumpkins just for fun in honor of fall. Mine drank a few too many pumpkin beers. 😉

Now that I’m back in DC, I can’t believe that the Marine Corps Marathon is SUNDAY!! Ahhh! I was pretty sore after our insane Mt. St. Helens hike on Sunday (probably not the greatest idea to do that the weekend before the marathon, but one doesn’t pass up such cool opportunities) but taking Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as rest days helped the situation.

As for this morning, I was at the track! I felt pretty awake and energized, which was a pleasant surprise (I thought I’d be crazy tired and jetlagged). It was great to get in one last run and to check in with my coach to talk race day strategy. He had those of us running MCM do a simple 2 mile run at our race goal pace. We also did a warm up and I did about a mile of cool down jogging too.

I have a stretch out session with Paul from Capital Energy Training later today which should feel amazing on my tight legs and hips. As for tomorrow, I’m planning to go to a yoga class – and Saturday will be another rest day. 🙂 I’ll be back tomorrow to share more on my thoughts and plans for race day – stay tuned! I’m starting to get really excited and also nervous… I can’t believe it’s almost here!

Have a great day guys!

Who else is running MCM? How are you feeling leading up to it?

Your travels to Seattle look amazing! I am running and super excited, but honestly so anxious about the late metro opening! Do you think it will be a terrible choice to use it? It is really my best bet for getting to the race!

I would highly recommend getting a ride from someone or taking a taxi or Uber vs. metro - it opens too late and I would think you'd be stressed about getting there on time.

Thanks! I was starting to lean toward Uber, and you sold me! Hopefully there are enough out and about early in the morning.

You can actually schedule Uber now just like a cab -- I'm going to do that! That way I won't be worried none will be available.

Your trip sounds amazing! I'm not running the marathon, but I am running the 10k! It's my first race and I'm super excited. Getting in a couple miles after work today and trying to calm my nerves!

Love your pics of Pacific NW! I am running MCM and nervous already! It's my first ever marathon! Any suggestions on how early to get there? Any thoughts on their runner-only shuttles?

So exciting it's your first marathon! I'm probably just going to Uber or hitch a ride as close to the start as I can just because the shuttles will require being there even earlier... but that's just me :) I'm planning to arrive no later than 6:45 or 7 just to be safe! Good luck and have fun out there -- you'll do great! :)

What raincoat are you wearing in that pic? It's different than what you brought for your Canada adventure earlier this year.

It was a massive and thick rubbery one -- not sure of the brand -- they had about a dozen of them on hand at the farm for visitors to borrow while there. I put it on over my usual raincoat to keep mine dry since I knew I'd be wearing it all day - and also because it was colder out than I anticipated so it kept me warmer. :)
