Hot Yoga Finale + A New Packable Lunch

Good morning, friends!

Remember awhile ago when I wrote about hot yoga vs. regular yoga and how I was trying to get into bikram yoga since I had a Living Social deal for 10 hot yoga classes for $20?

003

Well, we had 2 months to use the classes, and tomorrow marks my 2 month point! I’m planning on going one last time tonight (I went last night, too), which will mean I used 9 out of my 10 classes. Not too shabby!

019

So what are my final thoughts on hot yoga? I enjoyed it, but I still like regular power yoga better. The main problem for me was that the hot yoga place took about 20 minutes to drive to and the class was 1.5 hours, so by the time all was said and done it ended up being a 2.5 hour commitment not including showering! If it were closer (and if it were winter and not as hot outside as in the studio…) I might be more tempted to continue, but I also just don’t love how much laundry it creates 😉 It’s been fun to try something new, but I’m excited to go back to regular yoga from now on, with the occasional hot yoga class thrown in here and there 🙂

In other news, I’m still enjoying my vegan Curried Barley Chickpea Salad leftovers! Leftovers are the best — they make packing lunch so much easier since I already have something healthy all ready to go! 🙂

016

I packed up a serving of it for lunch today at my internship:

015

On the side, I packed a big salad topped with tomato, green pepper, and feta cheese:

And to end lunch with something sweet, a baggie of strawberries. Summer berries rock.

013

For afternoon snackage, I packed one of Angela’s No Bake Vegan Date Squares — I whipped up a batch of these the other night and they are delish! Very filling.

007

Plus an orange 🙂

014

I hope you guys have a great day! I have a giveaway coming up tomorrow so stay tuned 😉

p.p.s. In photography-related news, my friend Ben is selling his Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 lens. It’s the sharpest zoom lens that is made for APS-C sensor cameras (Canon Rebel series, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, Canon 7D). The lens comes with a UV filter, lens hood, and both rear and front lens caps. Here’s a link to a review of the lens — it’s $1,200 new, but Ben is selling it for $975 or best offer. Email him directly (ben@benpowellmedia.com) if you’re interested! 🙂 I wish I could afford it!

O'm'gosh, the laundry from Bikram. I'm a college student, so I only own 2 towels. I used to take class twice a week, so I used one towel for class, the other for a shower, did laundry, and then repeated once more THAT WEEK. And my mat always smelled really bad if I didn't wipe it after every class. But I do love it.

I tried out hot yoga for the first time yesterday courtesy of a groupon deal for 5 classes- it was crazy! I definitely have to get used to it since i'm more used to the power yoga stuff... and not used to dripping everywhere. My clothes weighed like double what they did when I started!

This post made me feel better about my decision to do yoga DVDs. It would be an hour drive to a good yoga studio. That's alot of time! With the asorted DVDs I can do them when I want.....I do miss a good class though. Choices!!
