Nesting

Hello, hello!

My latest pregnancy obsession is egg salad… yum. We had it per my request yesterday for an al fresco lunch at my parent’s place and it hit the spot. Plus a simple salad with some of my homemade balsamic vinaigrette (minus the garlic).

Wraps have been hitting the spot lately too – we’ve been having variations of this the past week. Rotisserie chicken + hummus + broccoli slaw + arugula.

Also loving on stir fry (<- my fave easy stir fry recipes) lately – for some reason soy sauce is really hitting the spot!

I just do NOT like sesame oil flavor right now, so that’s swapped out in favor of olive or canola oil. 🙂

Other than that we’ve been continuing to enjoy meals outdoors at restaurants now that the weather is nice and warm. I went to bartaco in the Mosaic District on Friday evening and their tacos were super good, I had never been before!

My favorites were the falafel taco and the fried oyster taco – so creative and unique!

The warmer weather is really giving me hope and improving my mood because we still aren’t comfortable eating indoors at restaurants, so having the weather on our side is making a big difference and it’s so nice to get out more!

Also giving me hope: I got my first dose of the covid vaccine a week ago, and so did Matt!

Now that more research has come out related to pregnancy + the vaccine (and the fact that antibodies transfer to baby), my OB has been recommending all their patients get it, so that made me feel good about the decision to go for it.

I felt fine after – more tired than usual and with a super sore arm, but otherwise okay. Hopefully round 2 in a couple weeks isn’t bad – I’ve heard that the second one can make you feel more sick afterwards!

Speaking of baby, we’ve been in full nesting mode over here the past couple weeks – getting all our old newborn stuff out of storage, washing and organizing baby clothes, setting up the baby’s room, etc.

Riese’s new big girl bed (affiliate link) also finally came after being backordered for months, so that was exciting! She loves it and we are glad she’s out of the crib early so it doesn’t feel like a direct swap.

I feel like the first, second, and early third trimesters dragged on foreverrrrr and now all of a sudden time is moving quickly. It’s exciting to feel like we finally get to welcome baby soon-ish!

I’ll be 34 weeks this week, and I’m writing a new pregnancy update post that I’ll share with you Wednesday, so stay tuned for more.

I hope you all had a nice weekend!

Glad to see you were able to get your COVID vaccine! I am also pregnant and was really struggling with the decision to get it now vs. wait until after I give birth when there is limited research for pregnant women. My doctor said it was likely not necessary to get it while pregnant since both myself and my husband work from home, but my sister's (who is also pregnant and works from home) doc said she should get it ASAP. I have been doing a ton of research, and in the end decided to go for it. Happy to see additional research since then in favor of pregnant women being vaccinated.

I was struggling with the decision back in January, but the more research that came out + the fact that antibodies transfer to baby + then my OB recommending it made it a no brainer for me in the end!

Ditto as you, Anne. I'm 36 weeks pregnant now. I was on the fence, but my OB strongly recommended it (and was more concerned about missing the 2nd dose! lol). I got my first shot (Pfizer) last week and get the 2nd shot 2 weeks from now - let's see if baby hangs tight. If not, I have read you can miss your 2nd shot by few days (even up to 6 weeks from 1st shot) and still be ok. Wishing for healthy, safe babies!

Glad you are protected via the vaccine - and the baby, too (bonus)! I hope everyone gets vaccinated as soon as they can so we will have herd immunity against this awful virus. Glad Riese’s bed got delivered. And I think a fried oyster taco sounds really good!

The tacos look great! How interesting to offer a fried oyster selection!! I’m surprised I don’t see that here in the South! 😉 I’ll have to check that place our next time we are up your way. We enjoyed Old Town this week and eating outside on the Waterfront! So refreshing! Glad you felt comfortable getting the vaccine and bonus for antibodies to the baby!

We haven't been to Old Town in too long, must change that! It's always lovely to be by the water. :)

I can’t imagine how scary it must be to be expecting in the US right now. What a relief you’re able to be vaccinated! Motherhood is hard enough without the stress of a pandemic.

Yeah, it definitely hasn't been ideal! I'm grateful that more research came out about the vaccines + pregnancy before my pregnancy was over! One more shot to go!

Great that you were able to get vaccinated - and also to get the big girl bed in place. Two developments that I am sure you are glad are now behind you! Looking forward to the update on Wednesday!

Woohoo!! Congrats on you and Matt getting shot #1! Hope you continue to feel well! I felt pretty much the same as you describe after shot and getting the second in a few days so I'll report in... Riese's big girl bed is so cute! Glad she loves it :)

My second is this Saturday, I'm a little nervous since most people say it's made them pretty sick, although just very briefly for 24 hours - and obviously worth it! Let me know how you feel when you get yours!
