Orange Ginger Salmon Recipe

Salmon is one of my favorite easy go-to meals at home – it’s quick to prepare and, if you use a sheet pan method, relatively hands off! This orange ginger salmon recipe is a new favorite – I hope you will love it too.

I love salmon.

I used to be scared of making it at home because every time I tried it would end up dry and tough. But then I discovered a) the importance of a marinade and b) how to bake it properly.

I still haven’t mastered the art of pan seared salmon, but baked salmon? All over it.

I love making salmon at home because it’s so fast and easy – dinner can be on the table much quicker than with some of your other protein choices!

Making this orange ginger salmon recipe is easy as can be. Here’s what you need:

The key to this recipe (and to most baked salmon recipes, in my opinion) is to marinate your salmon – and I like to keep things simple by both marinating and baking it in the same dish.

The marinade for this recipe mixes together orange juice, fresh ginger, ground coriander, olive oil, honey, salt and pepper for a bright and juicy combination that will keep your salmon nice and moist.

Once the marinade is ready, simply place your salmon in an oven-safe dish, then pour the marinade on top. Let sit for 30 minutes (while you preheat the oven to 375 degrees F).

Bake 12-15 minutes (depending how cooked you like your salmon), then get ready for a taste explosion.

I suggest serving the salmon with some rice or quinoa and veggies, but it would also be delicious atop salad!

Orange Ginger Salmon Recipe

Orange Ginger Salmon Recipe

This easy orange ginger salmon will come out moist and flavorful every time! The marinade can bake right in the pan with the salmon to create a sauce and keep the salmon extra moist - plus less dishes for you.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Additional Time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb salmon, cut into 4-6 filets
  • zest and juice of 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place salmon in a single layer in an oven-safe dish.
  2. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over the salmon. Turn to coat the salmon with the marinade.
  3. Let sit for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the oven to 375 degrees F. 
  4. Bake salmon for 12-15 minutes, until it flakes easily with a fork. 
  5. Enjoy!

    Yum! I have all of the ingredients to make this tonight, besides an orange. Do you think I could substitute a lemon?

    This sounds perfect! I look forward to making it soon. May sound weird, but I plan to make the marinade as a dressing to toss with canned wild caught salmon that we currently have in the fridge. It would be delicious over a salad tomorrow for lunch. 😄

    Great recipe and used the marinade for jumbo shrimp cooked on the grill last night, Yummy covers it!
    When I pan sear salmon (10-12 oz) individual slices high heat is the key and a glaze on top of the salmon will give you a nice golden crispness (about 3 minutes) then flip skin side down (about 2 minutes). Once this is done finish it in the oven 375 for 10 minutes. Comes out great every time.
    I am going to try your marinade on whole chickens for 24 hours and then make grilled jerked chicken. Hopefully it will taste like the islands!
