Hi guys! I’ve got some recent food highlights for you today. I’ve been eating out a lot lately, which I love! Nice to mix it up, especially since with pregnancy my cravings/what sounds good change by literally the minute. Good to have lots of variety at my fingertips at meal times!

First up: I had a fun dinner out with some girlfriends last week at Da Hong Pao, a Chinese place on 14th St. in DC. I had never been there before, but I knew when we walked in and were basically the only non-Asian people in there that the meal was going to be really good. The three of us shared the crispy duck steamed buns with plum sauce, some greens, and a shrimp and veggie dish. Everything was delish (and massive – go with a group so you can share)! Super nice wait staff, too. Also, if you get the crispy duck – eat the skin. It’s the best part.

My fortune cookie said: “Develop an appreciation for the present moment.” I like that – thank you, fortune cookie!

We decided dessert was in order and headed across the street for a nightcap of gelato at Dolcezza. Their gelato is sooooo good. I had the mint chocolate and a summery peach flavor!

Another recent food highlight was lunch with my girl Heather at Pupatella in Arlington! I had an arugula side salad (delicious – I really liked their balsamic dressing) and a pizza, of course! Definitely had some leftovers, too, which I didn’t hate. Heather is also pregnant right now and we were originally going to meet for a morning jog/walk date, but it was crazy humid, so we decided it made more sense to do a pizza lunch date instead. Same difference? 😉

I’m still loving refreshing summer salads in addition to pizza and gelato, though! Last week I met my friend Karen for lunch while working downtown – LPQ’s lentil salad is so yummy. And so was their watermelon mint juice! Now that it’s crazy hot again I’m DESTROYING liquids. Like, so thirsty all. the. time. I cannot drink enough water! It’s been fun to mix it up with more interesting drinks, too, like watermelon juice, coconut water, green juice, green tea, etc., too.

Catch you guys later – Freyja says: “have a nice day!” (Looking fierce in Matt’s t-shirt, because, why not? Lol. Don’t worry, she only had it on for a minute or two and didn’t seem bothered!)

Also, stay tuned: my brother is going to do a guest post about his through-hike of the Colorado Trail! I’ll hopefully have that up later this week or early next.

What’s the most delicious meal you’ve eaten out lately? We had some really great meals out over the weekend, too, but I unfortunately didn’t get any photos!

I dated a guy for a few months who grew up in a Chinese family. We went to Chinatown to eat a few times and knew all the best restaurants to eat at. It's a good thing he knew what he was ordering because some of the menus weren't even in english.

The places where the menus aren't in English are the best! Sometimes it's fun to go and just order something and see what shows up. :)

It's so good to have so many options at hand so you can eat exactly what sounds good to you! The best meal I have eaten out lately was vegetarian pho with my best friend (who is only three weeks away from having her first baby and was craving Vietnamese food!) followed by banana splits :) Such a special night with my bestie :)

I love reading about your eats in DC, especially cause school is starting up again soon and I need new spots to explore! It would actually be so cool if you could do like a DC recommendations post! Where to eat, where to play, etc. :) Most delicious meal I had out recently was my brunch a few days ago at this Moroccan place. They had delicious poached eggs with the most amazing hummus, tabouli, and pita bread. Yum!

That pizza looks great! Speaking of pizza, I tried a new spot with some friends who were visiting this past week, and they had the most amazing burrata and truffle brick-oven pizza. We also split a brick-oven baked pasta dish. SO good!
