Weekend: Nachos + Pancakes + Humid Running

Hi friends!

We kicked off our weekend on Friday with my favorite: nachos + bubbly!

Matt and I were in the mood for a night out so Riese and I met him on his way home from work for an early dinner/happy hour at Screwtop in Clarendon.

Riese is getting harder to eat out with now – she just wants to run around and explore and is so squirmy – but it was worth it. 🙂

Saturday morning was all about pancakes – these were Simple Mills mix with some hemp seeds and frozen wild blueberries added in. And made with milk, not water!

Matt and I also had back to back sessions with Paul from Capital Energy Training (mobility/stretching for me as usual – felt good), and then late morning, I met my friend Ashley for a run date!

Ashley is in town from the west coast for a couple weeks and I was really excited to see her. Long time readers will remember her as my original running buddy – we trained for my first 10 miler in 2009, my first half marathon in 2010, and more together! I miss her!

It was really humid out and I wasn’t feeling my most energized, but it was still such a treat to see Ashley and get some fresh air and movement.

4 sweaty, hilly miles – done! I definitely wanted to ask her to stop at mile 3 or 3.5 and walk, so I was proud I pushed through.

After the run we picked up some sweetgreen for ourselves and Matt and all ate out on our deck while Riese napped.

I’m obsessed with their seasonal rustic tomato harvest bowl – soooo good. Kale + brown rice + roasted tomato + walnuts + goat cheese + chicken thighs. So much more flavorful than chicken breast!

Once Riese woke up, Matt and I took her to a beer garden for a friend’s birthday! We shared tacos for dinner, but I forgot to get a photo. 🙂

As for Sunday, we spent the whole day at home packing and doing stuff around the house while Riese romped around amidst the chaos. We did stop for some good eats though.

Breakfast was oatmeal for Riese + toast with guac and leftover scrambled eggs and tomato for me:

Lunch was rotisserie chicken + guac + rice + string beans + greens:

And for dinner we defrosted the last of my leftover Instant Pot lentil bolognese (<- recipe) from the freezer and served it atop pasta with some parmesan.

Time to tackle my to do list – have a great day, my friends!
