Morning guys – it’s back to work today after a fun long weekend! As I mentioned, Matt had the day off yesterday for the holiday and I wanted to take most of the day off, too, so I got up before him and had a quick breakfast before doing a couple hours of work. On the menu a pumpkin muffin (x2 – went back for another because they are small) + 2 fried eggs + some berries. Hit the spot!

Late morning I closed the computer and we headed out for a run. We’re working on building back up our mileage because of the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler coming up in April! I’m thrilled to be partnering with my friends at Cabot again for the race, and Matt is going to be on the team this year. He’s never done that race before – will be fun to have him on board!

We had a nice run – beautiful morning for it!

Although we did a reeeeeally hilly route – oof! 5 miles – check!

After lunch (I made us some simple tuna salad wraps) we headed out for our next adventure of the day: hiking the Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls, MD with my grad school friend Steph and her husband Tom who also had the day off. 🙂

It was such a nice day to be outside and fun to catch up with Steph and Tom – we hadn’t seen them in awhile!

Matt was his usual mountain goat self – he loves exploring alternate routes!

Such a fun afternoon! The trail was packed though – lots of people had the same idea apparently. 🙂

After all that activity Matt and I were wiped last night – we came home and relaxed for a bit (and had some snacks!) and then made a quick dinner (a variation on my Almond Crusted Tilapia with roasted broccoli). I was in bed by 8:45 to read, and lights out by 9:30. So tired!

I’m glad I got almost 9 hours of sleep because this morning I met up with my buddy Chelsea for a Definitions boot camp via ClassPass (<- affiliate link for $30 off). It was a great workout, as always, made more fun by the fact that I had a buddy by my side. 🙂

I showered at the gym after so I could head straight to my co-working space. Some of the others in the class headed for the showers right away so while I waited for the showers to free up I did some foam rolling. I have been foam rolling so much more lately now that I have to wait for the showers at our various boot camp gyms! Always a good thing to foam roll more.

I have one AnneTheRD client call on the agenda today but otherwise it’s going to be a heads-down sort of work day – I have a bunch of writing I need to do for upcoming posts and partnerships. Better get to it!

Stay tuned – tomorrow I’ll be sharing another installment in my brother’s series of mountaineering guest posts – this one will be about his Mt. Rainier summit last summer! 🙂

My husband is the exact same way when it comes to exploring different hiking routes - he's totally a mountain goat! There's one trail in Acadia in Maine where they provide iron hand holds for some of the steep parts - he would have none of that and just went his own route! I'm surprised he hasn't broken any bones (knock on wood). :-) Looks like a fantastic weekend; the weather was amazing!

Always wanted to do the Cherry Blossom ten miler- hope Matt enjoys it! That's great that you are using that waiting time productively... I'm definitely guilty of not foam rolling enough.

It was such a great weekend here in DC! I'm planning on running the Rock 'N' Roll 1/2 Marathon in a few weeks and managed to get in a nice long run on Saturday... before spending the rest of the day at Right Proper Brewing! I've never done the Cherry Blossom 10-miler but it sounds like a lot of fun! Are you running it with a group or just you two?

What a fun break on a Monday! I love seeing your pictures of the cherry blossoms in Washington! One year I will get over there for the race and to see all the beautiful flowers! Enjoy the gorgeous running weather! It's finally cooling down enough on this side of the world for enjoyable outdoor runs again!

Sounds like a wonderful, relaxing, invigorating weekend! I just started class pass last month, and I've been so happy with it! I've been able to experiment with so many more types of classes and found that I really really love barre! I went to 8 different barre studios in Austin in one month, haha!
