This Almond Crusted Tilapia recipe is one of my very favorite dinners. It’s quick and easy to make, and the fish comes out moist and flaky with a crunchy crust.
It’s a great recipe for people who “don’t like fish”. I promise you’ll win them over!
I also highly recommend trying it topped with Black Bean Olive Salsa as a variation.
Tilapia is a white fish with a mild flavor. It packs a ton of protein, and it’s a rich source of niacin, vitamin B12, phosphorus, potassium, and selenium. In fact, eating tilapia can have nutritional benefits for your brain and eye health.
Almond Crusted Tilapia
This recipe might look and sound fancy, but it’s actually really easy to make! You’ll just need a few ingredients: sliced/slivered almonds, ground flaxseed (or any kind of flour), tilapia fillets, salt, and olive oil.
Start by finely chopping the almonds (or, you can buy them pre-chopped). Combine half of them with the ground flaxseed or flour in a shallow bowl.
Next, sprinkle your tilapia fillets with salt. Then dredge each one in the almond/flaxseed (or flour) mixture until evenly coated.
Pour olive oil into a large skillet over medium heat. Add the fish and cook for 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the fillets and put them onto a serving plate.
Add the remaining chopped almonds to the skillet and cook, stirring often, 1 minute or until golden brown. Then, sprinkle them over the tilapia. (The almonds get really crunchy and toasty – so good!)
