Hey guys! I loved the debate in the comments section of yesterday’s blog post about whether you have to end runs on a whole/even number (for mileage or distance) – keep it coming! 🙂

And now, in exciting news, I have been alluding to the fact that Rachael, Alex, and I have been working hard behind the scenes to launch a self-study version of our virtual 6 week intuitive and mindful eating wellness program, Joyful Eating, Nourished Life. While we believe there is huge value in having a community and access to the three of us dietitians for support/Q&A while going through the program, we also know that not everyone can afford the price tag associated with that, nor does everyone want to be on Facebook. We also know that some of you will want to get going now rather than wait for the next live program opportunity (which will be in April, FYI – we are going to run the live program twice a year – spring and fall – moving forward). So – ask and you shall receive!

Since our program launch last June, we’ve had almost 150 new joyful eaters join us for an un-diet approach. They’ve discovered what foods make them feel best, learned to listen to their hunger and fullness cues, explored how to nourish their emotional needs without food, and have conquered their fitness fears to start moving their bodies for fun.

And today, we are thrilled to announce that we are now offering a self study version of our Joyful Eating, Nourished Life program. It includes much of the same 6 week coursework provided in our live program, plus our 50+ page starter kit, all at an extremely reduced price of $149.

If you find food stressful and are ready to embrace a more kind, positive approach to eating, we hope you’ll join us on this journey. For more details on the new self-study program, testimonials, and to sign up, visit our website.

And now – back to your regularly scheduled food and fitness randomness!

It’s been a busy week over here work-wise as you can imagine getting the new version of our program off the ground! Yesterday, I hit up an early morning boot camp with the girls and then walked to Dupont to teach English (more details on my English teaching were in Friday’s post, if you missed it) before spending the rest of the day at my co-working space cranking through my to-do list. On the way, I discovered there’s apparently a mini version of the Spanish steps in DC – how random and cool!

What a hidden gem. Here’s a cool article about them if you’re interested. 🙂 I’m surprised I’ve never stumbled across these before! (I’ve also been to the real Spanish steps in Rome – here’s a blog recap from that trip if you want a little blast from the past/travel fun today!)

To continue with the complete randomness of today’s post (apparently I didn’t take as many photos this week as I thought I did), here’s a picture of my fun new deep blue pants that I was rocking yesterday. They were in my recent StitchFix (<– affiliate link) box which was awesome – I ended up keeping everything, which I never do!

As for food, I’ve been enjoying leftover banana muffins as snacks. As for breakfasts, here what I had Tuesday – a couple fried eggs, leftover roasted potatoes (with paprika, in case you’re wondering why they are orange), and some wilted spinach. The only thing missing was some avocado!

I’ve got another cold this week (seems everyone has one right now – we are all just passing it around, apparently!) so Matt made me another batch of fresh juice using our juicer – this one had raw beets, fresh turmeric (FYI: this stains everything, which we learned the hard way…), fresh ginger, and lemon juice. Plus some apple cider vinegar and water!

As for today, I really wanted to get out for a run this morning but I figured sleep was better given my cold – bummer since it’s so nice out! Instead, I slept in and enjoyed my flour free breakfast pancake – we’re out of ground flaxseed so I used a spoonful of coconut flour instead. Delish!

Time to get back to the to do list – and to rest up a bit, too! I’m hoping my cold is gone by tomorrow because Matt and I have plans for a fun weekend trip away.

Have a great day my friends – and check back tomorrow for the recipe for our new fave slow cooker Moroccan chicken and veggie stew!

I shared this on my Facebook page in the hopes of some people I know will seriously look into it! I hate hearing their suffering with dieting, and I have so come to believe in intuitive eating and the anti-diet approach. Thanks!

First of all congrats on the program, that's great you can provide something much needed at an affordable level! Second, I literally hate when that happens, I think I take photos all week and then realize they are all on snapchat lol

Thanks Kelli! And yeah, I don't use Snapchat but I guess I was just really busy and distracted... totally had less than I thought! Oops! :)

Hi Anne! I've been following your blog for years (since before I moved to the DC-area) and am beyond excited to hear about your self-study program. I've been a guarded eater since I was an overweight teenager 20 years ago. I wouldn't say that I have a bad relationship with food, but I do track my macros everyday, probably exercise a bit more than is necessary and oftentimes pass up invitations to social gatherings and restaurants because of my food issues (i.e. don't know how the food is being prepared, feel as if I spent all week working out and don't want to undo any of my progress, etc.) I've never had a diagnosed disorder and am currently at a healthy body weight. I love to eat, but would love to feel more freedom and less stress when eating. I eat mostly clean foods (recently became gluten-free due to an autoimmune disorder), but do enjoy indulging. In the moment of indulgence, I'm fine, but I just don't want to feel the slight sense of guilt that "I shouldn't have eaten that" when the moment is over. I know that my guarded eating irritates my husband and I would love to develop a better relationship with food. I also want to set a good example for my two young daughters. I want them to eat intuitively and to love their bodies at all stages of life. I'm hoping that your self-study course will allow me to enjoy all types of food again and to show my daughters how to have a proper relationship with food. Thanks so much!

Hi Jennifer! It sounds like our program would be a great fit for you, and I'm thrilled to hear that you are ready to change your relationship with food to one that is more positive and less stressful. I also love that you are working to set a good example for your daughters - so important! Wishing you the best with the program, and if I can help in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for reading my blog!

Sounds like a great program; really like your approach! Are those steps the ones that go into the Kalorama neighborhood, where the Obamas will now live?

Yes, they are! Perhaps I'll get a sighting of the Obamas next time I walk this way! :)

Hi Anne: I was a participant in your initial offering of the live program and am wondering if it would be worth it for me to purchase your at-home version too? I didn't follow along as much as I had hoped as I'm caring for my sister who is very ill. If I get your at-home version, would I be printing out the same information that was available to me in the live program? I'm thinking I could go back to my emails and print the info from those if that's the case. I did get alot out of the lessons I was able to read/participate in. Thanks!

Hi Leslie! I'm sorry to hear about your sister. :( This is a great question -- the self-study program content is a pared down version of the live program's content (you can see all the differences noted on our website on the "sign up now" page). So, I would save your money and just print out the worksheets/information from your original program and go through the program again on your own. If you did our first June program, be sure to check out the supplemental email we sent in October as well -- we shared some new worksheets and updates that we created for the October program. Didn't want to leave our June participants in the cold! Also, since you paid for the live program, make sure you are in the alumni Facebook group -- many others have been working through the program again as well and it's a great place to go for support and questions!
