Hi guys! If you have the day off today, I hope you’ve had a good holiday! Don’t forget to thank a veteran for their service. <3

Our weekend has been nice – fall is in full swing in the DC area and the leaves are beautiful and such a treat. I’m really loving the cold weather, too – especially for running, which I did on Sunday morning with my friend Karen!

We did an out and back through gorgeous Rock Creek Park in northwest DC. Love running here, and the miles flew by with our chatting!

Sun + cold = the best.

4 miles done!

We grabbed brunch after at Duke’s Counter! I’m going to have to recreate this Beet Smoked Salmon + Goat Cheese Toast at home – delicious.

Later that afternoon, Riese and I headed out for a trail walking date at Roosevelt Island with my friend Anina Belle + her little lady.

It was cold but we all enjoyed the fresh air!

Food adventures from the long weekend included a couple fun meals out with Matt and the little one plus some good eats at home. Riese enjoyed a pouch and some salmon at Silver Diner earlier today (I had a big kale and farro feta salad with shrimp and helped Riese with her salmon).

We also went out for brunch on Saturday at Stomping Grounds in Del Ray. Big biscuit sandwiches all around! Riese had some chicken + veggie meatballs from home, plus some guac and bites of biscuit. 🙂 Going out for lunch/brunch vs. dinner is definitely the way to go with a little one in the mix, unless we go out for dinner SUPER early!

As for dinner last night, we kept it casual and defrosted some minestrone soup from the freezer. Hit the spot on a cold night!

Matt (and our nanny) have today off so we spent the morning having some family adventures and now I’m trying to catch up on work a bit while Riese takes a nap. Have a great day guys, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow with some recipe fun!

I enjoyed your beautiful fall colors. We had a very wet fall in Wisconsin and our colors were not pretty this year. Thanks for sharing!
