Hi friends – before I get going on today’s post I just want to say that I’m thinking of everyone in Paris after this weekend’s sad events. Lots of love from the USA. <3

Matt and I had a low key weekend here in DC – one of the big highlights of which was a trail run out at Burke Lake Park.

I’ve only run at Burke Lake Park once before, when I did a fun 15k trail race there last December. It’s a bit of a drive from DC/Arlington but worth the trip if you have some time to spare. The weather was gorgeous on Saturday and I was in the mood to mix it up from my normal routes, so Matt and I decided to head out there for a little adventure.

The lake has a 4.5ish mile running/walking trail loop around it – perfect! It was so pretty out there – reminded me of some of my favorite running spots in North Carolina.

They also have little workout stations along the way – we stopped at a few of them just for fun. 🙂

Benches = perfect spot for dips, obviously.

Brooks sent me a cute new pair of tights as part of my Run Happy Blogger Ambassadorship – the Greenlight Capri SE in gray – and I was excited to try them out.

Cute, right? I love the pattern – creative and fun but nice because they match everything. They have a really wide, comfortable waistband and stayed put really well during the run. Nice wicking fabric, too. Two thumbs up – you’ll be seeing a lot of these.

On my feet, I had my fave Brooks trail shoes – the Pure Grit 4. These rock – Brooks gifted them to me earlier this year and I’ve been loving them ever since. Great for running or hiking – love how lightweight they are.

It was so pretty out on the trails with all the fall leaves everywhere. I’ll be sad when the trees are all bare!

Anyone else get in a fun run – trail or road – this weekend? I’d love to hear about it! Or – any great hikes to report? I’m all about the trails lately!

Did you know I used to be able to walk to Burke Lake from my house? It's where I started running during college!

Hey Anne, I LOVE the tights. Even went to the Brooks site to check them out. Can you clarify something for us though. There is only ONE review on their website and it's a 1*. She said they ride up in the croach or something like that...that the seam was bad. Did you have that problem? Sorry! TMI!!! Just curious. Thanks :) Cindy

I know, I saw that review - weird! I didn't have that problem at all! No riding up or anything and no weird crotch situation. :)

Those pants are super cute! I did a long run on Saturday morning but just one of my normal routes. Still a good one, though!

Hi Anne - Looks gorgeous out there! I love being able to stop off and do mini-exercises during a run. I can think of a few parks near me that offer that. But how do you find these great places to run?

Looking around online! Or via running friends. My friend Ashley introduced me to Burke Lake Park last year when we did the trail race, and one of my nutrition clients lives near it and has told me about it before too.
