Just spent the entire day packing and now off to bed but had to update to say:

I JUST FOUND OUT I PASSED BIOCHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SO relieved and don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a “C”! 🙂 Thank god for a MASSIVE curve (like, 20 points worth… I barely squeaked by!). (If you’re just tuning in — I took BioChem online this summer while I had way too much else going on, and our only grade was the massively hard final exam — I was very worried I didn’t pass, which would have been really bad since it’s a requirement for the masters program I’m starting, um, next week!)

We leave in the morning for North Carolina and I am SO happy I can head down there without worrying about this last prerequisite hanging over my head. Whew!

Over the past year, I have successfully completed: Chem 1, Chem 2, Bio 101, Organic Chem 1, Anatomy & Physiology 1, Human Nutrition, Microbiology, and now, finally, BioChem! I received A’s in all of them except BioChem 😉

I can now finally say with a clear conscience: UNC-Chapel Hill Masters of Public Health in Nutrition or bust!!!!

Woo!

p.s. Check out these fun photos (courtesy of Heather and Katy) of our Healthy Living Summit panel on Saturday! Don’t we look like professionals? 😉

Also, love this photo Meghann just posted of the two of us with Gena at the HLS cocktail party on Friday night!

And this super cute group shot, also from the cocktail party, courtesy of Arnold Bread’s Facebook page! Pretty ladies 🙂

I’m off to bed — another long day ahead — we are leaving bright and early tomorrow morning with the UHaul!

Catch you guys later from down south! 🙂

Congratulations! That's awesome. I had a course once where the entire final grade was based on our term paper. It was incredibly nerve-wracking. I can only imagine what having it based off of an exam must have been like. I can't wait to hear about your adventures getting your masters!

WOOHOO! CONGRATS! Oh wow, this brought back CRAZY memories for me. I, too, took BioChem over the summer and did so while planning a fall wedding. NOT the smartest thing I've ever done. My GPA was always pretty great, and I shed tears of joy over my "C" in this class as well. Good luck with the move and *welcome* to North Carolina!! Have a great move! :) Linds

Congrats! Why, oh, why do some schools allow all of your grade to be ONE test or ONE paper? We are all different - we learn in various ways and there are a variety of ways to express ourselves. I know that I would be FREAKING out if I was in your shoes. You tried your best and you deserve that pass. Celebrate! Best of luck at your latest adventures.

Congrats! I am on a similar track as I quit my job a year ago to pursue my goal to be an R.D. My first degree was in Psychology and Sport Studies so I was basically starting from stratch in my sciences. I took Chemistry 101 in the Spring and just took the first part of a two part Organic Chemistry class this summer. (I scored A's in both :) I probably have about another year and a half until I can transfer since I am working full time and taking one class in the evenings but I'm loving it so far. It's refreshing and motivating to see that it is possible to start over. Thanks for the good reads and good luck at UNC

Hi Anne, I'm also trying to finish prereqs for grad school (MPH at UNC Chapel Hill is my goal!) and was wondering what online program you used to take Biochem? My last prereq is Anthropology, and I can't seem to fit it in my schedule, so figured online would be best. Thanks!

Hi Hannah! I took online biochem through University of New England. I'm not sure I'd really recommend it though since it was only a final exam. I would have preferred a course that had more work along the way/more interaction - better for learning! You basically just watched the DVDs of his lectures by yourself/teach yourself the material.
