Hello, friends!

Thank you so much for all your wedding registry advice! I read every word and found it all SO helpful. Matt and I are going to go register today and I feel much more prepared armed with all of your suggestions!

I’m continuing to enjoy my spring break here in DC. One of my vacation favorites? Getting to go running in the sunshine at 11 a.m. instead of in the dark at 6 a.m. 🙂

I headed out to my favorite trail (the C&O Canal here in DC) again this morning for a solo 4 miler. I stopped once to get some pictures for you all of my very favorite part of the trail.

Isn’t it beautiful? I love that part of the trail because the trees clear out and you’re surrounded by water — canal on the right, river on the left. It’s so gorgeous.

I had a good run — I focused on doing negative splits again, and it was a success!

Splits:

  • Mile 1: 8:40
  • Mile 2: 8:36
  • Mile 3: 8:18
  • Mile 4: 8:07

Total time: 33:43. Average page: 8:25. Yay!

Oh, and while we’re talking about splits and GPS watches — I would like to announce the winner of my New Balance GPS watch giveaway! Thanks to all who entered — there was a great turnout and I found it very inspiring to read about all of you training for races, getting back into shape after a hiatus, pregnancy, or injury, and just generally working on fitness. I’m proud of all of you — keep it up! I so wish I could give ALL of you a GPS watch.

And now — the winner is…

Commenter #190, Kadye!

That canal looks gorgeous! The best thing about going on vacation is getting to run in a new area. I think another trip to DC is in order! :-)

That trail is goregous! I wish I had somewhere like that to run! I love the lake front here in chicago but I still feel very in the city, I'd love somewhere more rural!

Good lick and have fun registering!! I went to college in DC and every time I see your beautiful scenic pictures it makes me mad I didn't take more advantage of that. I was too busy looking at the scenery of local bars! :).

Congratulations Kadye. The trail is beautiful and I can image in my mind's eye a little boy skipping down the trail barefoot with overalls on and his fishing pool on his shoulder. Sweet.

Where is the trail head for the C&O canal? My bf lives in DC and I'll be moving there to join him in May (same time as you, right?). He lives near the zoo so I usually hop on the Rockcreek trail right there or run down to the White House but I could use a change of scenery!

There's not really a trail head - just a bunch of access points because it goes on forever! I'd Google it to see which ones are closest to your boyfriend. :)
