Hi guys! I took approximately a billion photos this weekend, so I’m going to split my weekend recap into two blog posts – part 2 will be up tomorrow!

First things first – any other black jelly bean fans out there?! I could take or leave the other jelly bean flavors, but black jelly beans… mmmmm. OBSESSED! I feel like everyone either absolutely loves them or absolutely hates them – no in between!

Anyway! I don’t think winter has give up yet, but we got a glimpse of spring this weekend and didn’t hate it. 😉

I grabbed lunch with my friend Mary on Friday and it was actually warm enough to go in a sun dress – amazing!! (Although this made me realize I am going to need to buy some nursing-friendly dresses and tanks that are presentable enough to wear out of the house for summer… any recs?) Mary and I met up at Amoo’s Restaurant in McLean, which is a Persian place that has amazing reviews and lived up to them. The food was delicious! We shared some hummus to start and then both got the salmon, which had great flavor/spice.

Matt was able to close out work early on Friday afternoon so we headed out to take a walk with the babe… but unfortunately the wind, cooler weather, and rain rolled in just when we got out there. Bummer! Also, why are all of our umbrellas broken?! Lol. This one went right in the trash when we got home!

On Friday night, we headed out on the town! We had old friends in town visiting so a big group of us + all the kids met up at Whitlow’s on Wilson (which is actually where Matt and I first met back in 2004 through friends) for an early dinner. As usual, Riese was not happy at all in her car seat, but she was relatively content to look around and hang out once we got her out and held her. Matt and I took turns baby holding and eating. 🙂

I had a beer + a grilled chicken bacon salad + a huge plate of sweet potato fries shared with a couple others. Hit the spot.

On Saturday morning, it was GORGEOUS out so I headed out for a quick solo jog.

postpartum run

I was really excited to be out there in such gorgeous sunny weather, but unfortunately running didn’t feel all that great physically… my C section scar area was hurting so I ended up just doing a walk/jog for about 1.5 miles. Bummer. 🙁 I have been feeling a bit anxious lately in general and was really hoping for some de-stressing endorphins, but no dice. Oh well – at least walking meant I had more time to stop and take in the beautiful spring flowers that are starting to bloom!

I will pause there and finish out the weekend recap tomorrow – stay tuned!

I’m off to do some baking for an upcoming blog post, and to tackle a bunch of big to do list items… lots of deadlines this week for blog partnerships. And I also just realized tax paperwork is due in like 2 weeks and we haven’t even started getting organized for that – ack! Better get to it!

p.s. Did you guys see the hilarious April Fools joke that Brooks Running pulled?! My favorite part is the “tickle” when he gets tired – lol! Seriously though… can they make those shoes?!

I LOVE black jelly beans. Reds are good too. When I was a kid the Easter Bunny only brought black. My brother and parents loved them too. I've been reading your blog for about 8 months now and I want to say THANK YOU. My husband and I have been making MANY of the recipes, enjoy them and make them for "family dinner" on various Sundays. My mom especially likes them and so I've printed them for her. I especially love how easy they are. I was pleased to see you enjoyed NM. Born, and raised here and will never leave. I love it here. Have a wonderful day!

Love any kind of licorice! Many years ago Popsicle made a white one that was licorice flavored (back when there were 2 sticks together). Miss them. And licorice ice cream, OMG!
