Hi guys! Happy Friday! Let’s kick this post off with some spring-like recipes since the weather has gotten lovely and warm here in DC and Easter is this weekend! Whether you celebrate Easter or just like delicious brunch/lunch food like I do, here are a couple recipes to try this weekend:

  • Healthy Deviled Eggs

  • Crustless Quiche with Spring Veggies

  • Sweet Potato Hash with Poached Eggs (uses leftover ham – or you can skip the ham!)

  • Vegan Strawberry Scones

And now, for a couple highlights from the week! Apparently I was a totally lazy blogger this week because when I sat down to review my photos from the week and write this post, I realized I didn’t take that many! Oh well. We did a lot of easy meals/leftovers/not photogenic stuff so that makes sense. And I ate a lot of avocado toast, as always. (See also: avocado toast recipes.)

The only food photo I got was of this delicious kale and farro salad I had at Silver Diner on Wednesday for lunch – Wednesday is my day off from work, and I met up with a fellow mom friend and we dined with the babes in tow. I loooove farro – such good chew.

Riese slept for a little while in the stroller but then wanted to come hang out and see all the action, as per usual! Luckily this was a good one-handed meal. 🙂

Our mom lunch date was right after Baby & Mommy yoga! The first time we went a couple weeks ago we went to Sun and Moon yoga studio, but they were closed this week for spring break and I wanted to check out the other spot I’ve heard about so we mixed it up. This one was at Yoga Works (formerly Tranquil Space) in Arlington. These classes are fun – not a workout at all but nice bonding time with the baby since they have you interacting a fair amount. 🙂 She enjoyed it until about the last 15 minutes of class when she was over it – I call that a win!

We also had Riese’s 4 month pediatrician appointment on Wednesday afternoon – busy day! She’s back up a couple percentiles in weight which is awesome (she dipped a bit last time)… still small but the doctor said she just may be a small baby and that’s fine. So that was good to know that all my efforts with breastfeeding and pumping have been paying off. Also, Riese peed all over me when I was holding her about to put her on the scale, so that was a good time. 😉 #momlife

Anyway – as for other fitness, I got in my workout date of the week with the girls early this week – we met up early on Monday morning for a little strength training (at Bodymass Gym via ClassPass <- $40 off affiliate link).

I hadn’t done bench pressing in ages, so I was pretty sore after!

Aaaaand that’s all I have for you today! I hope you guys have a lovely weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday with a recap!

My daughter was a small baby too. Only 16 pounds even at her year check up. She’s now 16, and still tiny (5ft 2inches and 90 pounds), but healthy. It will all work out.

My newborn had enormous trouble latching on and won't take a bottle. We were constantly told by the nurses, doctors, and breastfeeding specialists that my newborn just had small apetite and is therefore losing weight. One breastfeeding specialist offered snipping off the tongue tie. There were two doctors who were alarmed and long story short, my daughter was diagnosed with silent reflux and severe aversion to feeding. she was put on medications and after 2.5 years of a very difficult journey, she eats somewhat normally but we could not be happier that she is eating and growing well . I wish someone would have told me that it's perfectly fine to give formula milk if your baby will not latch. A well fed baby is better than a starved baby who won't sleep, will cry, and not put on weight. I also wish I was told that some women can't produce enough milk, no matter how hard you try, and there's no shame in it. But then wisdom comes when you no longer need it. I am glad to hear that breastfeeding is working out for both of you and your baby is health and thriving. Good luck to both of you ?

I'm sorry to hear you went through that - but so glad you figured out what was going on! I think we are in a good routine right now where I breastfeed her during the day and then we do the top off bottle before bed... she seems happy and sleeps well, so that's great!

The sweet potato hash looks delish. I've always had white potato hash but would definitely love to give these a try!
