Good morning!

Another day, another quickie packed lunch:

I packed one of my all time simple favorites — hummus & tabouleh on an Ezekiel wrap:

Plus a huge mixed green and beet salad, packed with a baggie of balsamic vinaigrette:

I threw some leftover Brussels sprouts (from the brunch party) on there, too. All that was missing was some goat cheese. I’m all out — the horror!

And some grapes to end on a sweet note:

Yum! No afternoon snacks since this lunch was for a short day at school. (pssst: Want to see all my quick packed lunch posts? Click here!)

In other news, I played tennis with my friend Lindsey on Tuesday night for the first time in forever! We’ve been trying to get our schedules to coincide for awhile now and it finally worked out. We had perfect weather for it, too! I used to play tennis in high school and while I’m not all that good anymore, it’s still fun to get outside. 🙂

We had fun hitting the ball around casually for about an hour. We kept it low key sine I had done my early morning track workout and Lindsey is 6 months pregnant now! I am so freaking impressed that she’s still working out. I hope that if I’m ever 6 months pregnant I’m still that hardcore.

Did you play a sport in high school? What was it and do you still do it now?

I ran cross country and track in high school. Too many foot injuries to keep me still running all the time now though!

Aaahh tennis - it's been so long since I played it, I miss it. Glad you had a good time.!!! I believe tennis is one of those sports that you are not supposed to play when pregnant...I just went through the whole ordeal myself. It's great that she is exercising, but tennis should wait till after the birth. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends avoiding sports with a high likelihood for contact or falling – and that includes tennis. One of the concerns with racquet sports such as tennis is that they often involve rapid changes in direction. With the changes in your center of gravity during pregnancy, these rapid twists and turns could make you more prone to falling. If you fall you could start bleeding if the placenta detaches from the uterus, or you could begin having contractions. Either event can place the fetus at risk of premature delivery. By far I am not an expert...just sharing my thoughts.

Thanks for the thoughts! But trust me, we weren't moving quickly enough for there to be any concern in falling. :) It was a VERY casual game given her condition and my sore legs... meaning any ball that wasn't near us didn't get hit, hehe.

I used to run track and cross country in high school and I'm still running! Training for my first marathon (MCM). Less than a month to go.

I was also on the swim team in high school. I haven't really swam since my freshman year of college. I miss it so much! Sometimes I dream about swimming! My muscles also clench with every start off the block or flip turn when I watch the swimming portion of the olympics on TV.

Everything about that lunch looks amazing!! I'm lucky enough to live five minutes from school so I can drive home for lunch but if I had to pack I would totally want that mediterranean wrap!

I was fat(ish) and lazy in high school :) Although, I DID try out for the tennis team (and got cut). I couldn't even run a MILE. Oh, how things have changed! I think when/if you are pregnant you will be just as active! The desire to be healthy and live an active life defintiely doesn't go away - in fact, I think it gets stronger.

I played tennis in high school. :) I loved it. I was a cheerleader too. My school was really small, so I was also in band and choir and drama...haha. The perks of a small school!

In highschool, I played field hockey, softball and golf. I still golf occasionally when I'm home with my mom, but now I'm into running, which I HATED in highschool! Probably becauE I never really tried!

I loathed running in high school, too. I remember we had to run 2 miles once for tennis practice and we all thought we were going to die. :) I didn't get into it til college! And not into longer distances until after college.

I played varsity tennis in High School! And I've probably played two or three times since then in the past six years- crazy, I would love to get back into it because I truly love playing tennis! Hummus and tabbouleh in a wrap? I like it! I'm a huge fan of mezze ;)

I played basketball and tennis in high school and was very good. I don't play basketball any longer but I do still play tennis. I also putt around the golf course with some of the ladies but golf isn't fast enough for me. I get bored waiting my turn. Anne, your lunches look very good indeed. I want to ask you though, is Ezekiel bread as dry as it looks? I have never tried it before. I am glad to see someone else who loves beets as much as I do. Beets are one of the veggies I grew in my garden this year. Nothing better than beets right out of the ground.

I really like Ezekiel bread !I don't find it dry. The wraps can be crumbly but I love the chewy texture. I love their cinnamon raisin bread and English muffins, too (frozen aisle usually).

I played volleyball and basketball in high school, and I miss them both so much! Every once in awhile my husband and I will get together with friends to do some pick up volleyball games during the summers. I always jump at any chance I get to play!
