I’m going to miss these pretty back deck flowers as a backdrop for my food photos!

We only have a couple more days left in Pittsburgh area – Matt, Riese, and I are heading back to DC on Sunday.

It will be nice to be home, but we are sad to leave! It has been really great to get to spend 3 full weeks up here with Matt’s family while we worked remotely – we are going to miss having so many people around, especially for Riese! In addition to his parents, Matt’s younger brother and his wife Drew have been here as well – they just left this morning, boo!

We had more delicious food this week – I’m going to miss that, too, as my father-in-law loves to cook and having a break from figuring out dinner by ourselves has been a big treat.

One of this week’s meals featured my Orange Ginger Salmon recipe, which I highly recommend trying if you haven’t yet! It’s really yummy and super easy.

Served with some brown rice and roasted broccoli (<- the easiest method that uses frozen broccoli, or you can do it with fresh and just keep an eye on it in case it cooks faster). Riese LOVES roasted broccoli and so do I!

Another night this week we had homemade (!!) sushi + salad for dinner! The sushi wasn’t normal sushi, but rather sushi with a twist… more on that to come in a couple weeks as it is part of a partnership I’ve been working on!

The accompanying salad had an Asian theme with crushed cashews, fresh mango, red pepper, and a soy and peanut butter infused vinaigrette. Very unique and tasty!

Matt and I also had a date night out this week, which was a huge treat! We figure it will probably be a long time before we can have another date night, so I’m glad we took the opportunity!

We went to Andora Restaurant, which came recommended because of the food but also because they have a spacious and nice back patio for outdoor dining.

We started with some drinks at our table next to their pretty flowers and fountain – it was lovely!

For my starter, I had the beet salad – pretty and yummy!

And for my entree, I went for the crab cakes, which are always hit or miss at restaurants but thankfully this was a big hit. They were super delicious!

It was so nice to have a long, leisurely meal just the two of us. <3

As for lunches this week, I only have one photo because otherwise we had a lot of not super photogenic leftovers from dinner.

Here’s one of the prettier creations – a salad topped with chicken, strawberries, and avocado. Served with some unpictured crackers and cheese on the side to make it more filling.

On the fitness front this week, we did our usual two Mauney Fit boot camps, and Matt and I also met our friend Tom for a run early one morning; we got post-run lattes and briefly strolled afterward which was also fun.

I don’t have my watch here with me, but I think we did about 3 miles! Tom has been in our “pod” this summer – he and his family were with us (in another house) on our Outer Banks beach vacation in early July as his family and Matt’s family have been besties since they were kids, and it’s fun they have been here visiting Pittsburgh at the same time as us now, too!

We had some good runs in OBX as well – he always encourages me and Matt to run a little faster than we would on our own. 😉

We are off to enjoy our last couple days here. A huge thank you to Matt’s parents for letting us crash their house for so long! 🙂

I’ll see you guys back here next week from DC again!

That Asian salad sounds good! What a great break you've had from the heat and humidity of DC in August!

What a wonderful break for you all, with great food, good workouts, plenty of family, and even a date night! Very nice! (And I look forward to hearing about the homemade sushi!) Safe travels home!
