Hi guys – popping in for some recent food highlights. Pregnancy has me still not super excited about food, but there were a couple meals I enjoyed this week in particular!

This combo of a salad (crab cake = yum) + fries from Kramerbooks in Dupont hit the spot for lunch the other day. Fun to see my friend Stephanie and her baby boy, too!

And Tuesday night I had a fun nachos date with my friend Jackie. She’s also a dietitian, and we have decided to do a nachos tour of DC because nachos are awesome. I love that two dietitians are doing this together. 🙂 This was our second stop on the tour – part 1 was at Screwtop in Clarendon a couple months ago. This time we hit up Tryst in Adam’s Morgan! Their nachos also get two thumbs up, although I wanted more guac and I didn’t 100% love the chicken addition, although that may just be because chicken and I are having a hard time lately due to pregnancy aversions (randomly chicken in soup is fine – it’s just chicken on its own I’m not super into). I think Screwtop wins out so far for best nachos, but it was a close call!

And… that’s all I have for you guys today. I have to head out for some AnneTheRD nutrition clients meetings in a few minutes, so I better get to it.

Have a nice weekend – and a big good luck to those of you running the Marine Corps Marathon (<- my recap from last year) or Marine Corps 10k (<- my recap from 2014). I am going to try to come out and cheer you guys on, so if you see me, please say hello – I’d love to meet you!

What’s the best thing you ate this week?

Oooh, yum! I'm with you - chicken has probably been my biggest aversion during pregnancy (I'm 18 weeks along with my first right now). However, I can eat it if it's in soup, or covered in cheese like in the nachos you had this week :) One of my favorite things this pregnancy has been your microwave banana oatmeal! Sometimes I'll even have it for dinner if I'm not feeling savory food. I always top it with berries, but recently I've been adding almond butter too and I can't BELIEVE how good it is together. I think baby is a big fan, too!

I've been doing that oatmeal some nights, too, when I can't handle anything savory. Glad you and the baby have been enjoying it! :)

Just wanted to say that we had to rehome our puppy earlier his year as well during my pregnancy. It was utterly heart wrenching but the right decision for him and our family. Now that our baby is here in so glad we did it then. A lot of people can be really judgey about it but we did what we knew was best and it was such a relief. My heart goes out to as you deal with such a tough situation!

I went to Kramerbooks for breakfast when I was in DC for a wedding this spring, fun to recognize a place! I just had my first baby (she's 2 months now) and chicken was one of my biggest aversion! Couldn't eat it or even chicken broth for the first 2 trimesters. We are finally friends again :)
