A Quick and Easy Breakfast Idea

Hello friends! Today I want to share one of my favorite really quick and easy breakfasts as of late.

quick and easy breakfast

Start with a serving of cottage cheese in a bowl. If you don’t like cottage cheese, this would also work with plain Greek yogurt!

Then add a sliced banana and a hefty shake of cinnamon. Fun fact: did you know that cinnamon, in addition to tasting awesome, may also act as an antioxidant, help lower blood sugar, and reduce inflammation? Load up!

Next comes some fresh berries! I love that berries are back in season.

And finally, top it all off with some chopped nuts. Today, I used pecans, but walnuts or almonds would work well too. Get creative!

quick and easy breakfast

So there you have it! A really easy and nutritious breakfast. You’ve got protein from the cottage cheese and nuts, fiber and nutrients from the berries and banana, and healthy fat from the nuts. Try it yourself! 🙂

What’s your go-to quick and easy breakfast as of late?

And if you like this post, check out a post I wrote last fall: 4 Healthy, Quick, and Portable Breakfast Ideas.

Nice! I got addicted to a very similar breakfast when backpacking through SE Asia- it was plain yogurt, a ton of fruit, and muesli. So simple and so delicious. I find I can only eat it during the summer months though- there's something about it that just tastes better when it's hot otuside. My current go to breakfast is a smoothy- banana, strawberries, peaches, spinach, yogurt, cinnamon, raw honey and peanut butter. Takes no time and is super portable to drink once I'm at work.

Great idea and it's very pretty too! I just so happen to have some cottage cheese that needs to be used up... looks like this is breakfast tomorrow!

That looks really good. Now I want to get some fresh berries! You can also try this with ricotta in place of the cottage cheese. Maybe with a drizzle of honey or fig jam. Yummy!

I LOVE cottage cheese...I normally mix it with oats (yes, Im probably weird but I dont care) but a banana and fruit would be a nice change. Great call!

You speak my language quick and yummy to go breakfasts! Perfection! I do almost the same thing with Greek yogurt. I do plain Greek yogurt, granola cereal and blueberries. BUT I am in the mood for a change, so maybe I will have to try this!. BTW for the past 10 days at work I have had your feta humus wrap so good! Sara :)

I eat this nearly every day (and just posted a picture of it yesterday on my blog): 1/2 cup plain non fat yogurt+1/2 cup chopped fruit (whatever is in season)+few dashes of cinnamon+1/4 cup Fiber One Original cereal. Great pre-workout.

This sounds great! I think it would make a tasty dessert option too - maybe add some dark chocolate chips?

For a quick an easy breakfast I make eggs in the microwave and then add some avocado! Super filling! I typically will then grab a piece of fruit as well :)

Looks good! I'm a bit confused though - in our nutrition class we were told not to use too much cinnamon (max. 2 grams per day) because of its side effects (skin/stomach irritations, blood thinning effects, impact on liver). I should probably look into this because I loooove cinnamon!

Love a quick yogurt bowl like this for breakfast or a smaller version for a snack. I like to heat up a diced apple, then top it with vanilla Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Delicious!

I always forget about cottage cheese as an option for lunches let alone breakfasts but this looks simple yet delicious. I'm obsessed with bircher muesli at the moment. :)

You know, I started topping my low-sugar cereal with cinnamon to make it seem sweeter, and now I'm addicted. I practically douse my morning bowl with the stuff. It's just an added bonus that there are potential health benefits too. :-)

With the weather warming up, I've switched over to Greek yogurt with fruit and either homemade granola or your no-bake pb granola bars crumbled on top. Definitely faster than my usual winter-time oats!

I had this two days in a row--once with cottage cheese and once with yogurt. Even though I LOVE cottage cheese, especially for lunch and snacks, I preferred this with yogurt. I used Chobani honey-flavored yogurt and topped it with sliced almonds since that's what I had on hand. Thanks for the recipe! This will go into my breakfast rotation.
