Hi friends – happy almost Halloween! Any fun plans this weekend? We’re hitting up my favorite haunted forest tonight with some friends. If you’re looking for something cute to make for a Halloween party, try my Spiderweb Maple Brownie Cookies. 🙂

In other news, apparently yesterday was National Oatmeal Day! In honor, oatmeal was back in the rotation after a brief hot weather hiatus this summer.

I whipped up one of my standard faves: my Perfect Microwave Banana Oatmeal (<—recipe), but with an egg whisked in! If you haven’t tried this yet, do it. You can’t taste it and it is an easy way to add more protein, especially since I was making this batch with almond milk (which has almost no protein).

The egg makes it more like a fluffy baked oatmeal type texture. It’s fun! I topped it with hemp seeds, slivered almonds, and strawberries. Fun fact: 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds gives you 10 grams of protein. Awesome vegetarian protein source!

Lovin’ on oatmeal right now, too? Here are some of my other fave oatmeal recipes:

  • Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal
  • Baked Oatmeal
  • Tart Cherry Oatmeal

And now, on to the fitness! Here’s what I was up to this week.

Monday – run with my friend Karen.

Tuesday – hot vinyasa yoga class at CorePower Yoga via ClassPass. In related news, I’m super annoyed because the Georgetown CorePower Yoga has taken their best class times off of ClassPass (aka all the peak times). Super lame. Thankfully the new Clarendon/Courthouse CorePower studio still has all their classes on ClassPass – that’s where I went Tuesday.

Wednesday – run in Richmond with my friend Brittany!

When I found out I’d be in Richmond for the Sabra trip, I emailed Brittany to see if she was free to meet up on Wednesday. So fun to get to see her! A huge thank you to her for getting up super early and running in the rain/dark with me. Loved the time to catch up! Also – the last time I was in Richmond I was there to run the Richmond Marathon – my first full marathon back in 2013! The weather was unfortunately similar… meeeeeemories!

Thursday – morning class at Urban Athletic Club with Chelsea! We really like their new Tues/Thurs morning instructor, Teisha.

Friday – morning run with my friend Sokphal!

It was a great sunrise morning. 🙂

Also, I’m obsessed with the changing leaves right now. So beautiful!

Fun, chatty run – always a nice way to start the last day of the workweek! Thanks for the miles, Sokphal. 🙂

I think now it’s time for a rest day. 🙂

Hope you all have a great day – and a fabulous Halloween weekend! Anyone have any great costume ideas for me? As always, Matt and I haven’t thought about it until now, ha…

What’s your favorite way to eat oatmeal?

What was the most fun workout you got in this week?

Totally agree about the egg in oatmeal......can't taste it at all and it's a great winter protein booster when I want comforting yummy oats. Honestly though I have always gotten the worst reaction when I suggest it to others so I'm glad to see it here and know I'm not (too) crazy!

I know, it is one of those "sounds super weird but is good" type things!

At the last minute my husband and I decided that we're going to a Halloween party that we were invited to ... so I also needed to come up with a quick and easy costume idea. I'm either throwing on workout clothes and taking a few props with me to go as a personal trainer or I'll cut a hashtag sign out of black cardboard and go as that. Not the most creative but at least we're getting dressed up!!

I'm super serious about my oatmeal. My fave is steel cut with PB and blueberries. THE BEST! I really want to try an egg in my oatmeal but I just can't bring myself to do it! Kinda freaks/grosses me out!!!

Mmmm oatmeal is my favorite thing ever! I loving adding both egg and banana to my daily oats, it makes it fluffy and super filling!

I am so upset Corepower took their sculpt and C2 evening classes off of classpass! Hopefully they will add them back on soon.

Ugh and now it looks like the Clarendon/Courthouse location just did the same thing. Super lame!
