As we wrap up 2023, I wanted to look back at the most popular posts and recipes on the blog over the past year!

Below, I’m sharing the most-viewed food and recipe posts in 2023 on fANNEtastic food – meaning the posts that got the most views in 2023 but that weren’t necessarily new posts published in 2023, if that makes sense.

(Want to see the most popular non-food/lifestyle posts of 2023? I’ll share links to those at the end of this post!)

Most Popular Posts in 2023

This year’s most viewed posts round up features some classic posts (all-time most popular recipes that readers love) in the mix, in addition to some newer ones.

(If you want to go back and look at some other popular recipes from the blog, check out this list of the my 15 Most Popular Posts of 2020, my Top Posts/Recipes of 2021, and my Top Posts of 2022. Also check out my all time Most Loved Recipes on the Blog based on reader reviews!)

Without further ado, here’s the list of my most popular recipes and food-related posts this year!

How to Cook Frozen Brussels Sprouts (+ Recipe Ideas!)

roasted brussels sprouts on a white plate with lemons

I love keeping frozen veggies on hand for busy weeknights, and apparently I’m not the only one! Roasting brussels sprouts from frozen is so easy to do, and totally delicious.

It’s a tasty, simple side dish for any meal, and there’s barely any prep work involved!

How to Cook Frozen Asparagus (+ Recipe Ideas!)

Here’s another frozen vegetable to keep in your freezer: asparagus! This guide goes over how to roast frozen asparagus the right way, so they don’t get soggy and blah.

It’s a super convenient side that pairs well with salmon, fish, chicken, and even more mains!

Avocado Toast (12 Ways)

The popularity of avocado toast is still going strong – probably because it’s such a versatile, nutritious, and simple snack or breakfast to put together!

I started enjoying avocado toast many years ago and it remains a breakfast staple for me – so delicious and easy.

This post includes 12 different – and totally delicious – avocado toast variations to try. There’s a smoked salmon version, a Mediterranean version, and even a chocolate version!

If your avocado toast game needs some mixing up, this is the post for you!

Almond Milk Overnight Oats with Berries

overnight oats in mason jars

I love overnight oats because all the work is done the night before, and in the morning all you have to do is eat!

You just put the ingredients in a small jar or container, shake them up, and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, just top with berries and sliced almonds, and you’ve got a tasty jar of oats for breakfast!

Dairy free oatmeal can be just as creamy and satisfying as oatmeal with dairy, and these almond milk overnight oats come together super quickly, too.

Lacto-Fermentation Guide: How to Ferment Vegetables

Fermented vegetables make a delicious snack or condiment for tons of meals, and they’re a lot easier to make than you might think.

I put together a guide to walk you through how to how to ferment different types of vegetables, including different flavor profiles. Give it a try – it’s fun and not as intimidating as it seems. 🙂

Banana Spinach Smoothie

This simple banana spinach smoothie recipe has been on my blog forever – and has been one of my top posts for years! It’s a super easy green smoothie with the perfect amount of sweetness from ripe bananas.

All you need is a handful of ingredients to make this nutritious breakfast or snack!

Mix & Match Stir Fry Recipes

teriyaki chicken with snap peas, carrots, bell peppers, and brown rice

Stir fries make a fabulous weeknight meal, and this post features tons of different stir fry meals (including homemade sauces) you can make for lots of variety.

You choose your favorite protein, vegetables, and grain, then just follow the steps for cooking everything.

Apple Cider Fall Sangria

iced fall sangria recipe

This fall-inspired sangria is the perfect cocktail for any holiday occasion – from Thanksgiving and Christmas to more low-key fall and winter dinner parties.

You can make it ahead of time, and it’s packed with flavor: red wine, apple cider, and spices, plus apple and orange slices. Delicious and festive!

This post doesn’t get a lot of views in the first part of the year, but by early fall it tends to be my top post on the site and stay that way until the year closes out!

Dairy Free Dinner Ideas

Instant pot quinoa fried rice in a large bowl with a wooden spoon.

Whether you’re looking for dairy-free dinner ideas for yourself or a family member, this list of flavorful dinner ideas has been a hit with tons of readers!

It’s packed with nutritious dinner ideas that don’t need dairy to taste delicious. From chili to the pictured “fried quinoa” (a riff on fried rice) and beyond, there are plenty of options to choose from.

How to Make Oatmeal Tasty & Satisfying

savory oatmeal with eggs and mushrooms

I’m a huge proponent of oatmeal, and I feel like it doesn’t get the love it deserves because it’s not always prepared in the most delicious way. It can be so tasty and satisfying (instead of boring and bland) with just a few simple tweaks!

This post covers all the ways to make oatmeal extra delicious, creamy, and flavorful – plus lots of different flavors and toppings to try (including the savory variation pictured above).

It’s always so fun looking back over the year’s most popular recipe posts!

Are any of these recipes on your ‘want-to-try’ list? Or have you tried some already? Let me know in the comments!
