Crazy, huh?

It’s so weird that we got snow this far south when no one farther north really did! It was seriously coming down for awhile!

008

I was having flashbacks to last winter’s “Snowmageddon” in DC, ha. Remember when my flight home to Florida was cancelled for three days and I went sledding with my neighbor’s kids? And when I went to the grocery store in my neighbor’s SUV only to find it COMPLETELY empty? And took pictures of myself with the snow up to my WAIST?

Yeah. That was crazy.

006

Anyway, yesterday was nothing like that, but it was still fun to get to see some snow 🙂 By this morning, everything was already pretty much melted and we were left with the typical North Carolina sunshine!

023

Good thing, since I had plans to run a 6 miler with my grad school friends Jillian and Samantha!

021

Since I’m done with this semester on Thursday (!!) and heading back up to DC for break on Saturday, I’m actually going to run the Jingle All the Way 10k on Sunday in D.C.! I’m excited — and decided it would be good to do a 6 miler this weekend to get my head in the game 😉

024

022

We decided to explore a new trail today for the run — about 20 minutes away and called the Tobacco Trail!

019

It was great — super pretty with the trees lining the trail, and mostly flat, too! A very nice change from our regular VERY hilly routes 🙂 It will be perfect for longer runs in the spring — there’s talk of training for another half marathon!

We ran the 6 miles in 52 minutes, for an average pace of 8:44. Sweet!

Splits:

  • Mile 1: 8:35
  • Mile 2: 8:59
  • Mile 3: 8:39
  • Mile 4: 8:59
  • Mile 5: 8:40
  • Mile 6: 8:35

Success! Feeling strong and ready to rock the 10k next weekend 🙂

I came back and had a tasty lunch with Matt 🙂

011

We finished up the soup I blogged about yesterday:

013

We ended up adding some chicken to the soup, too — just cooked in a pan with some olive oil, garlic, and paprika and cumin, and then shredded before being added in:

015

Yum yum! We also added some hot sauce 😉

On the side, I made us salads with some lettuce on its very last legs (I hate when you open the bag and it’s already almost bad! Lame.), plus a clementine:

012

Dessert was one of these tasty Kashi trail mix cookies 🙂 Love these when I’m feeling too lazy to bake any myself!

Time to get back down to studying! Here’s my schedule for this week:

  • Monday — Food Science final exam
  • Tuesday — last day of biostats (review), last day of counseling skills class (we already took our final in this class), and Maternal & Children’s Nutrition final exam
  • Wednesday — study!
  • Thursday — Biostats final exam, then DONE!! wooo

Soooo close 🙂 I’ll be studying the rest of the afternoon, then Matt and I have a fun pizza and movie date planned for tonight — we’re going to go see 127 Hours! Looks intense. Any of you guys seen it yet? Thoughts?

Wow, that's a busy week ahead and lots of exams. You're going to do great on it all though I'm sure. I love snow. We only see a small bit once or twice a year here in GA but its always so exciting when it happens.

No we were in Durham! Just after what you can see in the pics it turned into regular asphalt :) Unfortunately no run this coming weekend - as I said in the post I'm leaving for DC on Saturday, and running a 10k on Sunday, so no running on Saturday! We'll have to run together when we're back from the holidays!

I wish it would snow in Philadelphia! That soup looks amazing! Good luck on your exams. I took a Maternal and Child Health class in undergrad and loved it. I haven't seen 127 hrs yet but it looks great. Enjoy!

It snowed here in Chicago too yesterday! It was so pretty--lightly coming down all day. It wasn't too cold either! Those are the best days.

I have to study for finals this week too! And then I'm getting my top two wisdom teeth out. :/ It's ok though because in 9 days, I'll be heading up to DC to see my cousins (and run a 10k!) :)

Good luck on finals! Mine are next week. That's crazy that you had snow down there - I live way far north in Vermont and we only have a little snow so far.

My parents live in Cary and my mom was amazed at how much "snow" they got yesterday. In MA, our grass is still showing. Good luck with your finals! I am a week behind and not done until the 15th - cannot wait to be finished!

Sounds like a busy week. Good luck on all your exams. The soup I made yesterday and followed your recipe also disappeared yesterday. Gone. Keep us posted.

The snow looks so pretty! Still waiting for it in DC. I've never really been a runner, but I've been getting into it and love it so far. The Jingle All the Way 10k this weekend is my first real race and I can't wait! You're going to do awesome. Good luck studying! I have my finals this week as well and am so excited to be finished. Oh and those Kashi cookies are my fav :)

It's always more fun to run with friends. I don't know if I'd run as much as I do if I didn't have friends to run with! :-P Good luck on your exams!
