2012 was a busy and intense year, but it was filled with a lot of fun, too. I always love having the blog to look back and see how much I’ve done in a year – not only accomplishments but also to remind myself of fun trips and adventures! Without further ado – here’s 2012 in a nutshell (part 1)!

—

January 2012

Matt and I spent New Years Eve at a friend’s house on the MD Shore.

I wrote about New Years Resolutions vs. Daily Action – I love this post. Take a look, it’s timely right now!

My grad school classmates and I all convened in DC for a Nutrition Policy course field trip.

IMG_0993

I returned to Chapel Hill to begin my (final) spring semester of grad school. Man, I miss the warm winters there.

IMG_1012

I came up with one of my most favorite blog recipes ever – my Sweet Potato & Black Bean Veggie Enchiladas!

My college BFFs paid a visit to me in Chapel Hill.

IMG_1030

We received our wedding Save the Dates & I picked bridesmaid dresses with the girls.

I traveled to CT for the Mohegan Sun Winefest with blogger buddies!

February 2012

Intramural Walleyball (best game ever) started up again. I’m sad I won’t be there to play this year!

IMG_1252

I traveled to Athens, GA with my grad school girlfriends to visit our friend Kort.

Matt cooked an epic Valentine’s Day dinner for us.

IMG_4993

I ran 7 miles before 8 a.m., a new record (I was beginning to train for spring races).

IMG_1295

I spent a weekend in Miami with Matt (he was working there during the week for a lot of early 2012) – and we also explored Key Biscayne.

IMG_1400

One of my BFF’s, Jessica, came to visit me in Chapel Hill. Again – I can’t believe I was wearing a t-shirt in February. I miss you, NC.

March 2012

Matt and I spent my spring break up in DC on a wedding planning and apartment hunting frenzy. We did our cake and food tasting – mmm – and also picked table settings! We also registered for our gifts – check out the comments on that post if you need advice, it’s really helpful!

IMG_5206

I ran the Tobacco Road Half Marathon and set a new PR (which still stands): 1:49:37!

fANNEtastic food got a mini design makeover!

April 2012

Matt and I attended our friends Jack and Megan’s wedding in Rosslyn, VA.

IMG_1636

Intramural sand volleyball started up. Oh, yes. Going to really miss that this spring, too!

IMG_1645

I took my comprehensive exams for grad school. We spent months and months studying for this terrifying test – so much pressure! We found out a few weeks later whether we passed (I did – whew!) or would need to re-take the test.

IMG_5594

Matt and I attended our friends John & Erin’s wedding at beautiful Whitehall Manor in VA.

IMG_1702

I ran the Tarheel 10 Miler with my friend Elle. It was so. hilly.

IMG_1745-001

I spent 3 hours (all we had time for at the end of the semester!) on a jam-packed exploration of Raleigh with my classmate Maria.

IMG_5657

Matt and I ran the 5-ish mile Primal Mud Run – what a blast!

May 2012

I took my very last biochem exam – yes, this is noteworthy. Hardest subject ever! And then, my grad school girlfriends and I celebrated officially finishing our last semester of grad school coursework at UNC! Bittersweet.

farewell2

Farewell, Chapel Hill — Matt and I moved back to the Washington DC area so I could start my dietetic internships.

IMG_1796

5 seconds after moving in to our new place in DC, I traveled to NYC for a Fitness Magazine Blogger Meet & Tweet.

IMG_4155 (640x480)

I then traveled on to Reebok headquarters in Boston for a cool FitFluential event and I tried CrossFit for the first time.

IMG_1938

A week later, I traveled to Massachusetts again to run the Reach the Beach Relay, a 200 mile overnight running relay race, with a team of 11 other blogger buddies, courtesy of New Balance. We had a BLAST. (Leg 1 recap, leg 2 recap, leg 3 recap).

IMG_2042

I began my summer clinical dietetic internship at Washington Hospital Center in DC.

Whew – I’m tired just reading all of this! What a fun trip down memory lane. It’s making me feel very nostalgic!

Stay tuned for part 2! 🙂

Your post about daily action last NYE was one of my all time faves. So important to remember. One of my favorite highlights of 2012 was getting you back to DC so that we could spend more time together. <3 you and can't wait for yoga!

I am thinking of doing the Tarheel 10-miler this year! I have ran part of the course and those hills are no joke. Truth be told...I just want an excuse to go to Chapel Hill!
